Dancers Get Animated in ARP Backstage Pass Teaser Visuals

The virtual idol uprising continues as music and dance quartet ARP makes the jump to anime.

Produced by Future Media Creator YUKE's, the augmented reality band (whose name is short for both "Artists Republic Production" and "AR Performers") already has something of a following. The four do Vocaloid-esque live events, have YouTube channels, and sell CDs and merchandise. The step to anime marks the next phase of the mixed media project.

The previously-announced series debuted its teaser visual (seen above) along with images of its four stars ready for television: Shinji, León, and duo Rebel Cross (Daiya and Rage):

Video game producer Akari Uchida (LovePlus, Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side) has been on board as a producer since 2016 and will be working on the anime series as well. ARP Backstage will apparently follow the four members' school lives outside of their careers. Presumably, it will use the same AR technology as their YouTube videos, though it's not known yet whether they will be composited against real back grounds like said videos.

ARP Backstage is set to debut July 28 on TOKYO MX.
