Violet Evergarden the Movie Tops Filmarks' Satisfaction Ranking of 2020
Filmarks, Japan's largest film, drama, and anime review service operated by a Tokyo-based company Tsumiki, has announced the "Satisfaction Ranking of 2020." The rankings were calculated based on its data for the films released in Japanese theaters, dramas and TV anime broadcasted or distributed in Japan between January 1 and December 24, 2020.
According to the data, the most highly-rated film of 2020 was Kyoto Animation's Violet Evergarden The Movie, which received a 4.39 approval rating. The 140-minute film was released in 152 theaters in Japan on September 18, 2020, and earned 2.1 billion yen from its domestic run to become the 11th top-grossing film of 2020 in Japan.
And, the most reviewed Japanese and foreign films were Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train and Parasite.
Meanwhile, the most highly-rated TV anime of 2020 was HAIKYU!! TO THE TOP, which received a 4.46 approval rating. As the fourth season of the TV anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate's volleyball-themed sports manga, its first cour was aired in Japan from January to April of this year, then its second cour followed from October to December.
And, the most reviewed TV anime was JUJUTSU KAISEN.
