OPINION: We Had a Wildlife Biologist Analyze Pochita from Chainsaw Man

Image
Chainsaw Man is full of unique and fascinating characters, but maybe the most iconic is Denji’s tiny companion Pochita! Even though he isn’t in the majority of episodes, his uniquely lovable design and adorable charisma has endeared him to anime fans all around the world. But what exactly… is he? He’s a devil and he has a chainsaw, but how exactly does this creature’s anatomy work? Well, we had the opportunity to talk with wildlife biologist and activist Che Frausto about Pochita and he gave us his opinion on how exactly this little creature is built!   NOTE: This article is based on an external expert’s opinion and does not reflect the actual character in question or any canon in-universe facts.   Che Frausto, in his words, is, “a wildlife biologist living on Maui, Hawaii which is, unfortunately, the extinction capital of the world. I created my own line of educational coloring books. I thought I could build more of a bridge between the community and conservat...

FEATURE: The 10 Best Animation Moments of Mob Psycho 100

Image
Since its very first season back in 2016,  Mob Psycho 100 has had many things going for it. From how much heart its characters have to its poignant look at what makes a person special or not, there’s a lot to love about the show. But I'm not here to talk about what makes this show great under the surface, I'm here to look at that shiny surface-level charm that is the visual spectacle gifted to us by the artists at studio BONES .   Yeah, we’re here to look back at the most amazing moments from the show’s three seasons from an animation standpoint.   The Introduction – Season 1, Episode 1     This might come as a weird choice considering how many amazing sequences the show offers us, but I can’t help but recognize the importance of those few seconds at the start of the first episode of the series. BONES showed us their vision for Mob Psycho 100 by giving us a fireworks show like no other, flexing their muscles to declare their intention to ...

INTERVIEW: TeddyLoid Talks About His Favorite Anime and How They Influence His Music

Image
Image via the Japan Animator Expo Official Twitter Account   In August of 2010, Gainax's  Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt  began airing and immediately became an immediate sensation with anime fans. The raunchy humor, iconic design sense, and slickly animated action sequences all left a strong impression, but underlying all of that was an absolutely killer soundtrack by the then up-and-comer TeddyLoid. While that series was many Westerners' introduction to the musician, TeddyLoid has since become a hugely successful, widely recognized musician. Besides contributing music to the viral animated short "ME!ME!ME!," TeddyLoid has toured all around the world and amassed millions of hits on music streaming websites. We had the opportunity to talk with the musician about how he got his start, his favorite anime, and what he hopes people get out of his music.        Crunchyroll: Could you please introduce yourself for our audience?   TeddyL...
