Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel first launched in Japan in July 2022, with a global release following that September.
Ahead of the shutdown, the game has halted sales of the in-game Crystal currency. Those who have unused Crystals will be able to request refunds starting September 5. While the game is shutting down, a new single-player event inspired by the Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens anime is planned for April 4 and there will be a new raid event on April 13.
You can stream a bunch of Yu-Gi-Oh! anime on Crunchyroll, including the first anime adaptation, which is described like so:
Meet Yugi and his best buds Joey, Tristan and Téa. They share a love for the newest game that’s sweeping the nation: Duel Monsters!
Legend has it 5000 years ago, ancient Egyptian Pharaohs used to play a magical game very similar to Duel Monsters. This ancient game involved magical ceremonies, which were used to foresee the future and ultimately decide one’s destiny. They called it the Shadow Games. Since the game used so many magical spells and ferocious creatures, it wasn’t long before the game got out of hand and threatened to destroy the world.
