Linux users, beware: TrickBot malware is no longer Windows-exclusive

The creators of the TrickBot have once again updated their malware with new functionality and now it can target Linux devices through its new DNS command and control tool Anchor_DNS. While TrickBot originally started out as a banking trojan, the malware has evolved to perform other malicious behaviors including spreading laterally through a network, stealing saved credentials in browsers, stealing cookies, checking a device's screen resolution and now infecting Linux as well as Windows devices. TrickBot is also malware-as-a-service and cybercriminals rent access to it in order to infiltrate networks and steal valuable data. One of the biggest reasons to use a VPN is about to disappear

In addition to protecting your privacy and blocking unwanted tracking online, one of the best reasons to use a VPN is to receive discounts you normally wouldn't. By using a VPN while shopping online, you can save thousands when purchasing airline tickets and other items by changing your IP address to one in a different country. This is because airlines use local pricing, so a ticket in one country may be much cheaper than a ticket for the same flight in a different country.  However, some users have abused this trick to purchase games from a different country which has led the PC gaming giant Valve to update the account settings in its digital game store Steam. Steam also uses local pricing so buying a new PC game from Costa Rica for instance might cost $40 or $50 while purchasing the same game in the US would cost $60. Following Claroty's discovery and reporting of a critical vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2020-14511, in Moxa's EDR-G902 and EDR-G903 secure routers , the team then discovered that products from Secomea and HMS Networks also had severe flaws that could be exploited to gain full access to an organization's internal network without authentication. New form of Linux malware has a clever use for the Dogecoin API

As more businesses shift their workloads to cloud environments, Linux threats are becoming increasingly common and cybercriminals have devised new tools and techniques to launch attacks against Linux infrastructure. One technique they often employ is scanning for publicly accessible Docker servers and then abusing misconfigured Docker API ports to set up their own containers and execute malware on their victim's infrastructure. The Ngrok botnet is one of the longest ongoing attack campaigns that leverages this technique and a new report from Intezer Labs shows that it takes only a few hours for a new misconfigured Docker server to be infected by this campaign. The game was said to be in development under the codename Avalon. The game featured a "cooperative multiplayer world" that was likened in the report to the Monster Hunter series. Developer Jordan Mychal Lemos said on Twitter that he worked on the project twice for short periods of time. "I loved the narrative of the game and we had a super strong writing team early on. Metal Gear Solid 5 PS3 Players Have Achieved Total Nuclear Disarmament, 5 Years After Release

Image
In Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , there's a cutscene that only triggers if your server achieves total nuclear disarmament --that is, no one on your gaming platform has or is developing any nuclear weapons on their Forward Operating Base. It's a cutscene that requires global cooperation to unlock--and now, five years later, one group of players has managed it. Reddit user LoneQuacker highlighted the achievement, posting the cutscene that played for PS3 players when total disarmament was achieved. The video, posted by user "Steff", is "brought to you by anti nuke gang," according to its video description. You can watch the cutscene below, and see if it stirs up any feelings of hope inside you. "I thought this day would never come," Kiefer Sutherland's Snake intones early in the cutscene. At this point, neither did we. The cutscene has actually triggered once before in the PC version of the game, but this should not have been the c

PlayStation Or Xbox? Valve Boss Gabe Newell Reveals His Choice

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles are launching this holiday, and many might be wondering which one to buy. Valve boss Gabe Newell has now chimed in with his own thoughts on the matter. If he had to choose (which he doesn't because he is a billionaire), Newell would go with the Xbox Series X, he said on a recent TV show in New Zealand. "I don't have a stake in that race. Obviously we do most of our development on personal computers. But of the two, I would definitely go with an Xbox," Newell told The Project. He did not elaborate on why he thinks Xbox is better than PlayStation, however. You can watch the clip below. Newell initially came to New Zealand in early 2020 for a 10-day vacation , but he became stuck in the country due to the global pandemic. As a thank you for the kindness and generosity of the people of New Zealand, Newell is paying for a giant party in Auckland called "We Love Aotearoa," which is to be held on August 15. Continu

Halo Infinite-Themed Xbox And PC Peripherals Coming From Razer

The Halo Infinite-themed accessories are planned for a September release, but unfortunately, Razer hasn't revealed any of them as of yet. When reached for comment, Razer said that its previous Gears 5 line is a good example of what to expect from the upcoming Halo Infinite series. Looking at Razer's Gears 5 collaboration, the company created Gears of War-themed keyboards, mice, headsets, and mousepads. Of course, as we said, it's not confirmed those are the same types of products that will receive the Halo Infinite branding. We'll report back when we learn more. Halo Infinite's first gameplay footage was revealed during the recent Xbox Series X showcase. It received some ire from fans for looking flat in some ways--it even produced a 343 Studios-approved meme called Craig . Mi

Halo Infinite Multiplayer Teased By Phil Spencer

Microsoft has finally shown off Halo Infinite 's campaign, but we haven't seen any multiplayer footage yet. Microsoft will showcase the multiplayer "soon," but ahead of that, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has offered a tease for what to expect. He told iJustine that that Halo Infinite will build off the multiplayer element of Halo 5: Guardians , which was generally well-received by fans. He also teased that 343's developers have pushed themselves with new "technical challenges" for multiplayer, but Spencer did not elaborate on this. The executive also confirmed that Halo Infinite's multiplayer element was developed alongside professional Halo players in an effort to fine-tune the experience. "The multiplayer in Halo Infinite I think is going to be special when we talk about it," Spencer said. "We know, for some many people, Halo CE started with us lugging our Xboxes around, plugging them in together and playing console multiplayer, for man
