Deadline: Paprika Novel To Receive Hollywood Live-Action Adaptation

 

 

Hollywood newswire Deadline has confirmed that Amazon Studios and executive producer Cathy Yan will be collaborating on an episodic adaptation of the Paprika novel authored by Yasutaka Tsutsui under her Rewild production banner alongside Hivemind Entertainment. The adaptation will be a TV series that will feature Masi Oka of Heroes fame as one of the producers. Yan is best known for directing the Birds Of Prey live-action film based on DC Comics characters Harley Quinn and the hero team of the same name. 

 

The Paprika novel has previously been adapted into an anime feature film produced by Madhouse and directed by Satoshi Kon released in 2006 to critical acclaim, for keenly adapting the psychological and science fiction aspects of the novel with director Kon's talent for depicting psychological horror.

    Right after the final 13th episode of the TV anime D4DJ First Mix was aired in Japan last night, it was announced that a new mini anime series D4DJ Petit Mix is set to premiere on February 5, 2021. Seiya Miyajima ( BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! Pico ) serves as the director/series composition writer at DMM.futureworks/W-Toon Studio.   The new comedy series featuring the chibi version characters will be available in "D4DJ Photon Maiden TV," D4DJ project's new variety show hosted by the four members of Photon Maiden - Risa Tsumugi , Ami Maejima , Haruki Iwata , and Hinata Sato .
