"KochiKame!" Cast Plays Goalball to Promote Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games
The cast of KochiKame!, Osamu Akimoto's long-running comedy manga and TV anime series, is returning to Japanese TV with a new animated short TV special promoting the sport of goalball and the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The TV special is the 4th installment in the "Animation x Paralympics: Who is Your Hero?" series, in which famous comic characters interact with real life athletes.
Goalball is a sport for athletes with visual impairments, where players use their hands and their sense of hearing to try to lob a ball with bells embedded in it into their opponents' goal. The animated short features the voice talents of LaSalle Ishi as Kankichi Ryotsu, Yumi Morio as Reiko Akimoto, and Mariko Shinoda as original character Yuuki Amaura, and it will broadcast on the NHK's networks and official Youtube channel in mid-November of 2018.
