MAGICAL CIRCLE GURU-GURU Manhole Covers Installed in Oita
Starting today, visitors to Oita Prefecture may catch a glimpse of adorable adventurers Nike and Kukuri underfoot!
The pair are the stars of MAGICAL CIRCLE GURU-GURU, the fantasy gag manga by Hiroyuki Eto. In addition to its 16-volume print run starting in 1992, the series has a sequel manga that's been running since 2012, a film, and three anime adaptations.
To celebrate the series, a pair of decorative manhole covers have been installed at the Kokonoe Yume Otsurihashi, Japan's tallest suspension bridge and a popular spot for beautiful waterfall views. One manhole cover features Nike and Kukuri, and Kita Kita Oyaji and Gipple on the other:
