Bocchi the Rock! TV Anime Introduces Sayumi Suzushiro on Drums
The upcoming CloverWorks adaptation of Bocchi the Rock! has brought on its second cast member: Sayumi Suzushiro, who will be taking on the role of drummer Nijika Ijichi.
Nijika is the drummer for "Kessoku Band," which is in search of a new guitarist. She finds the shy loner Hitori Goto, a.k.a. "Bocchi-chan" — the star of the series, seen in the anime's first announcement — and invites her to take on the role.

Suzushiro has appeared as Uruka Takemoto in We Never Learn: BOKUBEN, Kei Shirogane in KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR, and Dodonko in KONOSUBA -God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!- Legend of Crimson. In the statement released along with her casting announcement, she said Nijika is a role she's wanted to play since she first read the Bocchi the Rock! manga, and even brought a pair of drumsticks with her to the auditions.
Bocchi the Rock! is based on the manga of the same name by Aki Hamaji, serialized in Manga Time Kirara MAX. It's being directed by Keiichiro Saito in his directorial debut, with screenplay and series composition by Erika Yoshida (Tower of God) and character designs by Kerorira.
The series is set to premiere in Japan sometime in 2022.
