Pure Love Story That Moves Nations Begins in Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni Anime Film Teaser Trailer

The official website for the forthcoming anime film adaptation of Nao Iwamoto's romance fantasy manga Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni (Gold Country, Water Country) has started streaming a 45-second teaser trailer. The tagline is: "What we fell in together was a love that could move nations."

The clip introduces the film's two main voice cast - actor Kento Kaku (Simba in The Lion King Japanese dub) as Naranbayar and actress Minami Hamabe (Yumeko Jabami in the Kakegurui live-action series) as Sarah. And popular anime voice actor Soma Saito (Wein in The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt) serves as the narrator of the clip. He has been an avowed fan of Iwamoto's manga works since his college days and has loved the original manga.

Message from Kento Kaku:

I am both honored and filled with trepidation to receive this offer. I was fascinated by the wonderful world of the original manga and the richness of the characters. The clumsiness and straightforwardness of Naran and Sarah will surely touch the hearts of everyone who sees the film. I couldn't stop my heart from palpitating as I performed (laughs). I hope that this wonderful story will reach many people. Please come to the theater!

Message from Minami Hamabe:

My heart was wrapped up in the warm story, and I felt as if I had been given a share of the tender feelings. I have memories of struggling with a lot of help from everyone. What cheered me up when I was stuck was the humanity of Sarah and Naranbayar, the presence of Kento Kaku-san, and above all, the cuteness of Lukman the dog and Odontchimeg the cat, who appeared in the film. They are so adorable that they make me squirm, and I look forward to enjoying them in the theater. I hope you are all looking forward to seeing it!

The film is set to be releeased in Japan inthe spring of 2023. Kotono Watanabe (BTOOOM!) serves as director on a screenplay by Fumi Tsubota (Hugtto! PreCure series composition writer). Madhouse (Summer Wars) works on anime production.

The manga was first published for eight chapters in Shogakukan's Monthly flower from 2014 to 2016. Then, its one-volume tankobon was released in July 2016 and has printed more than 400,000 copies. It was voted No. 1 in the female section of the guidebook "This Manga is Amazing! 2017."

The publisher describes the synopsis of the manga as below:

Once upon a time, there were two neighboring countries that did not get along.

They bickered over trivial things day in and day out. Finally, they went to war over the issue of cleaning up dog feces. God intervened in a hurry and said to the chiefs of the two countries,

- Country A gives its most beautiful girl to Country B as a bride.

- Country B gives its wisest young man to Country A as a bridegroom.

Then, the princess of country A, Sarah, happens to meet a young man from country B...!
