Sega Announces Genesis Mini 2 Launch For North America On October 27

Sega has formally announced the forthcoming launch of the second official Genesis second mini console following the success of the first official Genesis Mini in 2019. The Genesis Mini 2 features the updated Genesis 2 console design first released by Sega of America in 1993 alongside a newly updated roster of games that includes selected Sega CD games. However, with the console featuring a Teen rating for the game roster, a fair few Genesis and Sega CD titles have been excluded.

It should also be noted that this console will not see a retail release in the US like the first Genesis Mini, this console is being directly managed by Sega of Japan and they are partnering with Amazon Japan to handle order fulfillment through Amazon US. Because of the console originating in Japan, international shipping is being charged on every pre-order, bringing the total cost to ~$136 after tax from its list price of $103. The console will be released on October 27th, and Sega will be releasing more details on the game roster in the near future.
