Takashi Miike Reveals New Girl-Centric Tokusatsu Series PhantoMirage
Shoujo tokusatsu franchise Girls x Warriors have unveiled the cast and looks for their next show: Secret X Warrior PhantoMirage.
The franchise, headed up by director Takashi Miike (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Ichi the Killer), consists of live-action series with a toku sensibility and a magical girl feel. Previous entries include Magic x Warrior MagiMajo Pures! and Idol x Warrior Miracle Tunes!, and PhantoMirage will mark the third team.
The heroines of the new series transform into phantom thieves, fighting the villainous organization Anti Cop as they turn innocent people into monsters called Ikenaiya. Starring in the show will be:
Minami Hishida as Cocomi Sakurai/Phantom Heart
Kira Yamaguchi as Saki Asumi/Phantom Spade
Toa Harada as Yotsuba Shizuki/Phantom Clover
Mandy Sekiguchi as Fandy
Tsubasa Honda as the voice of Kumachi
An album cover has also been released for what appears to be an idol unit featuring the lead actresses:
Secret x Warrior PhantoMirage begins airing in Japan April 7, the week after the finale of MagiMajo Pures.
